Cet étrange véhicule est présenté à l'armée en 1913 par un M. Gauthier de Blois, connu pour avoir conçu un « auto-fauteuil » dans lequel on voit aujourd'hui un ancêtre du scooter.
Après des essais au cours des quels le véhicule saute à 150cm de haut pour une distance franchie de 600 cm (on arrive ainsi à lui faire franchir un cours d'eau et même...un mur), l'engin est présenté à une commission technique du ministère de la guerre. La voiture effectue un saut record de 800 cm avec à son bord le conducteur et un colonel de l'armée comme passager. Celui-ci un peu secoué, refuse de repartir pour un deuxième essai, ce qui mets une fin à l'histoire.
Notez toutefois que la photo apparaît avoir été retouchée et que toute l'affaire pourrait bien n'être qu'un canular technologique dont l'époque était friande

This curious vehicle is offered to the french army in 1913 by a Mr Gauthier, living in Blois, where he is known for producing a small vehicle called « auto-fauteuil » (auto-chair) which is now viewed as the ancestor of the scooter.
After successfull tests were a height of 150cm and a jump length of 600 cm are achieved (thus enabling the vehicle to overcross a river and even ...a wall), the machine is presented to a military testing committee. A first, record, jump of 800cm length is achieved with the military examiner, a colonel, onboard as passenger. However, this colonel, slight shaken by the experience refused to do a second jump thus putting an end to the adventure
Note how the photo appears much touched-up. It could well be that the whole affair is a technological hoax, a not uncommon occurrence at the times.
